The last time I watched Masterchef Loyd Grossman was making a name for himself and the British public were given the chance to learn about exotic foodstuffs such as cauliflower and raspberry. If like me you haven't seen it for a while you might get a shock with this updated macho enterprise. In this version, circus workers are too burly to be expected to eat vegetarian food, so the contestants are told to feed them said food. This allows the judges to then say how daring or wrong said contestants are in cooking vegetarian food.
This was just one of many differences that are disconcerting. It led me to remember how, in the olden days, I'm sure nobody cried when they made a mistake and I'm almost certain Loyd never shouted at anyone for not being able to count to ten.
