The Apprentice: 6 October 2010

Just think, if it wasn't for capitalism we'd never get the chance to watch programmes like The Apprentice. It's also always a plus to hear a man say in mixed company that there's no glass ceiling for him, and to witness someone else describe himself as a 'a brand'. All this to impress Lord Alan, never mind what the rest of us think. 

In this first episode, Dan was fired for leading his team to defeat, and it probably didn't help that his underlings ended up hating him because his leadership was done in the style of a tyrant. 

Eastenders: 5 October 2010

The dashing of romantic dreams was all the rage in last night's Eastenders and, credit where it is due, the misery on Jean and Carol's faces wasn't as depressing as you might think as both had their illusions not just dashed, but ripped to shreds, stamped on and finally flushed down the loo. What with Billy Mitchell being embarrassed about sleeping with Jean, and Lewis from-the-army-recruitment-office hiding his wedding ring from Carol, you can only hope they will bounce back. With this being Eastenders you can't help doubting it though.

Coronation Street: September 2010

Gail's wardrobe has never been anything to write home about - the clothes in the wardrobe not the furniture that is, if you want to be pedantic - but just lately a certain style has been creeping in that is even more unflattering than usual. She's not just taking to wearing blazers supported by hideous buttoned to the chin blouses, but said blazers also have a contrasting colour for the piping for added Y Factor. She might be wearing these to remind her of the days she didn't go to Eton, or from when she wasn't an airline pilot, a magician or a holiday camp entertainer. It's more likely, though, that the wardrobe department have got it in for her so watch out for the flippers, goggles and deely boppers in next weeks' shows.
